How Print Marketing Can Promote Your Online Business

As the number of online businesses growing rapidly every day, marketing becomes more than just registering with search engines. As the number of Internet shoppers increases, the number of web sites, land-based businesses, as well as e-businesses also increases – all looking for a slice of online commerce. With so many markets, many companies are finding that it’s difficult to catch the attention of Internet users. They are lauded with advertisements, daily deals, and other inviting specials with every click.

So how does an online business get the attention of Internet users? One unique way can be through print marketing. Despite the growing trend of online advertising, print marketing can raise your company’s reputation.

While it’s important to maintain an online persona for your company, thinking outside of the box with print marketing can increase public awareness, both online and off. Don’t restrict your advertising and promotional efforts to the web, as you will miss a good portion of your potential market. Many online stores focus too heavily on online advertising at the expense of traditional paths that may produce better results.

You don’t have to just stick to one type of marketing either. Choose a well-researched blend of Internet advertising, print advertising, and broadcast media to really get your company out there.

It’s important to always define your target market: What kind of customers do you want to attract? Where would your product or service most make sense? What are the best methods of promoting your product or service, online or not?

Rather than spending all of your advertising budget on online methods, a well-placed ad in a magazine could produce more revenue. Newspaper or newsletter inserts could improve word-of-mouth in the local market. There are many ways to promote your e-business; don’t let the supposed ease of online stores cloud your eyes of what the best way is.

With any print marketing that you take part in, remember to prominently feature your web address. Many companies have found it useful to promote their web address in this way, reaching a wider market than previously projected. Print media is a good way to reach a broad market, versus keyword searches and matches through search engines.

Subway or bus broadsigns, fliers handed out on corners, newspaper polybags, or movie theater previews are great out-of-the-box ideas that can really boost awareness and overall sales. The real challenge in marketing is to find innovative ways to get the word out about your business, while securing a customer base.

Another tip to remember is to always be realistic with your expectations. It’s hard for new and small e-businesses to garner a following, but with diligent work and well-placed advertisements, the way to success will be easier.
