The Rise of Aftermarket Motorcycle Parts: A Growing Industry for Entrepreneurs

In a world with quite a bit of economic insecurity, due to the pandemic several years ago and the current rise of artificial intelligence (AI), it seems like it would be incredibly difficult to start a business and live out your dream of being an entrepreneur. However, if you focus on the right industry, especially when taking into account your region, then you can not only start a solid business, but you can actually thrive. That’s why Filipino entrepreneurs should begin to look at the aftermarket motorcycle parts industry.

Starting decades ago as a way for motorcycle enthusiasts to tinker with their vehicles and create custom bikes, the aftermarket motorcycle parts industry has boomed over recent years and is showing no signs of slowing down, especially in Asian markets. This is a multi-billion-dollar industry that can fill a consistent need in an ever-changing world.

While this is not a how-to guide about starting a business, below you’ll find reasons why the aftermarket motorcycle parts industry is a great idea for prospective entrepreneurs in the Philippines.

Motorcycle Ownership Growth

All you have to do is look at the streets in the Philippines to notice how many motorcycles are being used. They are all over. And believe it or not, the Philippines is the fifth-largest motorcycle market in the world. To further prove that point, when you look at Q1 sales of motorcycles in the Philippines in 2025 (448,000), that number is actually bigger than the entire United States sold in 2023. Additionally, the sales in Q1 of 2025 were actually 10% higher than those in the same quarter in 2024.

To say there is a demand for two-wheeled vehicles in the country is a vast understatement.

It’s obvious how this might translate to aftermarket parts growth. With more and more motorcycles being sold, there is more and more need for parts. In fact, one of the main reasons why people order aftermarket motorcycle parts is the desire to do repairs and upgrades at home. This is exactly what happens when the global economy begins to fluctuate. With people scared about what the economy might look like, they’ll want the option for affordable parts, which allows them to skip the expensive repair shops.

Also, unlike other regions around the world, where the idea of a motorcycle as a means of transportation is a luxury, in the Philippines, it’s a necessity. These vehicles are often very economical, with a smaller price tag than a four-wheeled vehicle and much better fuel efficiency. Motorcycles are great at weaving through busy roads, as well. And we see with the incredible urbanization of the country, this need is only going to rise.

Don’t Be Scared by EVs & Smart Tech

One of the biggest concerns in the aftermarket motorcycle parts industry is the advent of electric vehicles (EVs) and a growing reliance on smart technology. Why is this a potential issue? Simply put, the more complex a motorcycle becomes, the more difficult it is to repair on your own. So, if everyone buys EVs and skips traditional engine vehicles, then there might be a dip in aftermarket part orders.

The truth is, vast EV adoption isn’t going to happen anytime soon, if at all. In fact, worldwide, there is a large EV sales slowdown. Many countries are seeing EV sales plateau or even drop. Not only that, but the prices of EVs have yet to reach a point where most people can realistically purchase them. Thus, when the majority of everyday people go to a dealership to purchase a motorcycle, they won’t even bother looking at an EV.

Smart technology is also a potential hurdle. Much like EVs, smart technology is thought to make home-based motorcycle repairs and upgrades more prohibitive. That just isn’t the case. While there is a desire for people to have smart technology in their vehicles, this is a group of people that can be serviced by an intelligent aftermarket motorcycle parts business. Pay attention to trends and technology, and you just have to adapt.

The Future of the Industry

As stated above, the future of the aftermarket motorcycle parts industry is bright. Not only are motorcycle sales increasing in the Philippines, but aftermarket motorcycle parts are selling better than ever worldwide. According to reports, the worldwide sales in the industry will grow to $34 billion (USD) by 2034. This is driven by the fact that more and more folks are buying motorcycles as an affordable (and fun) means of transportation.

No matter if you’re an upstart parts company in the Philippines or a respected aftermarket Harley parts dealer elsewhere, you can rest assured your business, if managed well, will not only survive in today’s economy, but it’ll rev up to even faster speeds.
