European poultry – a stable partner for Filipino consumers and importers

Manila, 28 January, 2026 – As part of the information and promotion campaign co-financed by the  European Union “European Poultry – From Our Farms to Your Tables” Filipino consumers and business  partners have the opportunity to learn more about the distinguishing features of poultry meat from the  European Union: safety, high quality, concern for animal welfare and sustainable production. In the following interview, Dariusz Goszczyński, President of the Management Board of the National  Poultry Council – Chamber of Commerce (KRD-IG) in Poland, explains why European poultry is highly  regarded around the world and what prospects for long-term cooperation are opening up before importers  and the hospitality industry in the Philippines.

Dariusz Goszczyński- European poultry – a stable partner for Filipino consumers and importers

1. One of the fastest growing populations in Southeast Asia is in the Philippines, generating increased demand for animal protein. How can poultry imported from the European Union meet these growing needs while ensuring a stable supply and consistent quality?

In recent years, there has been a steady increase in European poultry exports to the Philippines. This is a  clear sign that local consumers and importers increasingly appreciate the quality of EU products. It is worth  noting that Poland alone shipped 26,000 tons of poultry meat to the Philippines last year, and in the period  through August of this year, it has already shipped 29,000 tons.

Global forecasts indicate that in the coming decades, Asia will be the region with the highest demand for  protein. Manufacturers in Europe are well positioned to respond to this: we have a modern production  base, advanced technologies and one of the most rigorous veterinary surveillance systems in the world.  The result is a product of stable, repeatable quality, whose delivery can be scheduled with a high degree of  predictability – which is crucial for the rapidly growing Filipino market.

2. The poultry market in the Philippines is highly sensitive to safety issues, partly due to historical animal disease outbreaks in the region. How, then, can the European poultry sector – with its model of control at every stage of production – strengthen the sense of security for Filipino consumers and importers?

Food safety is the foundation of European poultry production. We are bound by the “field-to-table” inspection model, which means that every stage – from breeding, transport and processing to the final product – is subject to constant veterinary supervision. This ensures that importers have full traceability and transparency of the origin of each product batch. What’s more, many producers in the EU are implementing additional voluntary quality systems beyond the requirements of the law. As a result, European poultry is considered a stable, safe, and high-quality product. This builds trust with Filipino partners.

3. The importance of sustainable production and responsible sourcing of food is growing globally, also in the Philippines, among both young consumers and importers. How does the European poultry industry demonstrate that its products are made responsibly – with concern for the environment and animal welfare?

European manufacturers, including Polish, are investing heavily in modern solutions that reduce the  environmental impact of production. The solutions used include, among others, energy-saving LED  systems, process automation, heat recovery technologies, photovoltaic installations and biogas plants,  among others. Improving feed efficiency is also increasingly important, resulting in lower greenhouse gas  emissions. At the same time, Europe has some of the most extensive animal welfare regulations. Farmers  regularly implement advanced systems for monitoring poultry health and welfare, and many producers  choose to voluntarily raise standards above those required by law. This shows that European poultry is  produced in a responsible, modern way and in line with the expectations of today’s conscious consumers – including those in the Philippines.

4. The Philippine market is very diverse, with a mix of modern dining in the cities and traditional regional cuisine. What qualities of European poultry can make it an attractive choice for both the hospitality industry and for those cooking in Filipino homes on a daily basis?

European poultry is a product of high nutritional value, rich in complete protein, vitamins and minerals  while being easily digestible and low-fat. For chefs, both professional and those in Filipino homes, its  versatility is especially important. Its natural, delicate flavor makes it suitable for both traditional and  modern dishes inspired by international cuisines. This makes it an attractive choice for the Filipino food  service industry and households that value versatile, easy-to-handle and high-quality products.

5. Imports to the Philippines rely heavily on long-term business relations and supplier transparency. How can the “European Poultry – From Our Farms to Your Tables” campaign build trust with Filipino partners and foster long-lasting cooperation with European exporters?

Trust is the pillar of long-term cooperation – and trust is built through consistent quality, safety and full transparency of production processes. European exporters attach great importance to open dialogue with business partners so that they can respond quickly to the needs of the Philippine market and develop their offer together. The campaign “European Poultry – From Our Farms to Your Tables” reinforces this trust, presenting reliable knowledge of European production standards and showing that cooperation with EU  exporters means high quality standards, full production transparency, stable supply, and long-term  business security.
